Academics

ELA instruction strengthens reading, writing, and communication skills across all grade levels. Through daily reading, writing practice, and vocabulary building, students learn to express themselves with clarity and confidence.

Students build a strong foundation in math through hands-on problem-solving and interactive instruction. Lessons are designed to develop number sense, critical thinking, and real-world application.

Science is taught through exploration, inquiry, and experimentation. Students learn to observe, question, and discover key concepts in Earth, physical, and life sciences.

Students explore civics, geography, history, and culture to understand how communities work and how individuals can make a difference. Lessons encourage awareness, empathy, and engagement with the world.

Students participate in regular PE that promotes movement, teamwork, and lifelong wellness. Activities help build coordination, confidence, and self-discipline.

Fine Arts instruction gives students the opportunity to express themselves creatively and build appreciation for visual and performing arts. Projects develop fine motor skills and creative confidence.

Using the Be Good People curriculum, students engage in daily lessons focused on emotional regulation, respectful relationships, and decision-making. Life skills are intentionally taught to help students thrive both in and out of the classroom.

Students participate in a variety of learning activities each day that individualize instruction for each subject area. Students receive whole class instruction, small group instruction, and individual instruction with teachers, technology and other curricular tools.

Our teachers meet the educator qualification requirements outlined in the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA): Bachelor’s degree, grade-level teaching license/certificate & ability to demonstrate subject area expertise. Our teachers are supported by trainers and participate in continuous, research-based professional development. Our teachers are accountable for student learning and rewarded for high quality performance.

Our students receive double the instruction in ELA and Math to provide a strong foundation for all learning. Beginning with full-day Kindergarten, our school also follows a longer school day and school year than many other schools.

Student knowledge of academic standards is assessed formally and informally in short cycles by each teacher. Our teachers adjust class-level and individual instruction based on student performance in these frequent intervals.
