Welcome to North Columbus Preparatory Academy, home of the Warriors!  North Columbus Prep is a learning community which values high expectations for both academics and behavior.  Our staff embraces students, families, and communities to build and develop well-rounded individuals who are independent critical thinkers and intrinsically motivated to be life-long learners. We believe that all children can learn as we seek to make a difference in the lives of our students.

The teachers and staff at North Columbus Prep are committed to providing a quality education for all students in a safe, secure, and nurturing learning environment. We are committed to ensuring that each child reaches his/her full potential.

In addition to core academic subjects, North Columbus Prep students have the benefit of weekly art, and physical education, classes. Special services available to students include:  special education, literacy support, and counseling.

We encourage all parents/guardians to maintain regular communications with their child’s teachers and be actively involved in the school community.  Checking the school calendar, website, and our Facebook page for events and activities will help keep you informed. Ernest White
Ernest White, Principal

Ernest White grew up in Columbus, Ohio in the Linden Area. He is a proud graduate of Hocking College, Wilberforce University, and Dayton University. Mr. White holds an associate’s degree in human services and corrections, a bachelor’s degree in criminal administration, a master’s degree in education with a focus on school counseling, and has also completed the required graduate courses to obtain a certificate in clinical mental health counseling.

Throughout his career,  he has held various roles including correction officer, lieutenant, captain, and major for the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation & Correction. Additionally, he has worked as a high school ED paraprofessional, substitute teacher, and as a school counselor, where he led an “At-Risk” program known as the Strategies for Intervention Prevention Program (SIPP) at Licking Heights Local School District and completed a clinical internship at a private practice in the Columbus, Ohio area.

Dr. Adrean Winfrey, RVP

Dr. Adrean Winfrey joined ACCEL schools in 2022 with over 6 years of teaching experience and 14 years of K-12 school leadership experience. Dr. Winfrey is a licensed Ohio School Superintendent. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from Henderson State University, a M. Ed. in Educational Administration from Texas A&M University, and a Doctorate in Educational Leadership from Ashland University.

Community School

North Columbus Preparatory Academy is a public, community school. We are our own school district sponsored by the Charter School Specialists, which provides oversight and enforces academic, fiscal, and legal accountability. We are managed by ACCEL Schools, a high performing network of over 50 charter schools located throughout the United States.
